How To: Goal Setting

FIRST – what you are all here for… CLICK HERE for a free printable that I created for the ladies in my Virtual Bootcamp. This is a big part of our prep week, and while we are focused on health and fitness in the group you can use this worksheet for ALL GOALS. Ok… now onto the content and how it works!

I get asked a lot how I am able to get so much done with such a hectic schedule. I’m not trying to say I’m busier than anyone else… lord knows there are ladies out there with crazier schedules than me, but I have managed to have a successful career, a baby (now toddler, and 2nd baby on the way), become certified in multiple nutrition theories, run a side wellness biz, and stay (somewhat) sane all while my husband works full-time and goes to school full-time at night. Ugh, I’m tired just thinking about it!

So, how do I get it done… I SET GOALS. Think of going on a trip. You have an end destination you’re trying to get to, but if you don’t get directions before you leave or at least set the destination into a maps app, you probably won’t end up where you want. So if you have a goal in mind, but have no directions or path to get there… you probably won’t ever achieve that goal.

Here is EXACTLY how I set goals. I do the below steps for EACH goal I have for myself. I recommend setting 3-5 goals that cover the following categories: family, home, finances/income/work, fitness/health, hobbies/travel. NOTE: You do not need to wait for the perfect time to set a goal. Start today!

  1. Set your 1-Year Goal. This is what you plan to accomplish 365 days from now. Write your goal as if you have already accomplished it. For example, if I am setting a health goal for myself:
“I weigh 160 pounds because I follow a workout regimen 5x per week and meal prep for my family on weekends to set us up for success.”
  2. Set your 90-Day Goal. This is something you want to have accomplished in 3 months, and that will help you on your way to your 1-Year Goal. For example:
“I have just successfully finished the 80 Day Obsession workout program from start to finish.”

  3. Set your 30-Day Goal. This is something you want to have accomplished in one month, and that will help you on your way to your 90-Day Goal. For example:
“I have begun trying new recipes that fit within my meal plan, and have consistently gotten in 30-days of my workout program.”

  4. Finally, set your Weekly Goals. You will have 4 weekly goals on the road to your 30-Day Goal. These goals should be short-term ways you will begin to change habits to get you to the 1-month mark. To continue our health example:
Week 1: “I get up 30 minutes earlier each day to ensure I get my workout in.”

Week 2: “I have cut out all beverages except for water and sparkling water, and drink half my body weight in ounces of water each day.”

Week 3: “I have tried a few sample meal plans, and made a list of the recipes I like. This will allow me to start creating my own plans.”

Week 4: “I have started listening to “Girl Wash Your Face” on Audible for 10 minutes every morning while I get ready to workout to help me exercise my brain and be sure I keep up with the positive momentum I have going.

That’s it! I literally did the above in about 10 minutes. This entire process should take about 30-45 minutes. I also recommend getting a journal specifically for your goals, and looking at it every morning when you wake up. Have your goals written out and read them over. I write my weekly goals in my planner, so I see them throughout the week. I also post my goals on board at my desk so I see them whenever I sit down at my laptop. BASICALLY PUT THEM EVERYWHERE! This ensures you see them and think about them.

I also recommend setting aside 15 minutes each weekend to adjust your goals as needed. I add this to the time I schedule my week/month and meal plan. It’s about 45 minutes I take for myself each weekend to get my mind right for the week ahead.

Good luck and congrats on taking a positive step in your future!

Why You Should Have a Side Hustle

side hustle.jpg

I just went live on my personal Facebook page discussing the topic of side hustles and why you are basically FLUSHING MONEY down the toilet if you don’t have one. I have a 9-5, but I am also a health and fitness coach with Beachbody, so I thought it would be appropriate to share the reasons i think EVERYONE should have a side hustle working for them. Below are the top 5 reasons you really should have a side hustle.

  1. Build New Skill SetsI have a full-time job that I absolutely LOVE; however, there are certain skill sets that I just don’t get in my 9-5. Leadership skills, entrepreneurial skills, marketing skills… the list goes on.Having a side hustle teaches you things that you probably will never get in a normal job. You might get some, but having your own business is a game changer when it comes to learning and expanding your mindset… especially learning through doing and through failure–which in my opinion is the best way to learn.

  2. More $ Every MonthI don’t think I really need to explain this, but a side hustle will result in extra $$$ in your pocket every month. What would you do with an extra $500? $1,000? $10,000?

Currently, my side hustle is allowing me those lavish extras I used to begrudgingly pass on. Things like eyelash extensions, shopping trips, family vacays, a house cleaner and gardener. As my hustle continues to grow that extra money will pay off our mortgage, buy me my dream closet of Christian Louboutins, a vacation home at our favorite ski resort and the ability to send my son to college without him having to worry about student loans for the rest of his adult life.

  3. Financial Safety NetLet’s be real – life happens. Cars breakdown, houses flood, pets get injured, medical problems arise, family members need help… you lose your job. These are just some of the issues that can plague us unexpectedly, and no one is safe from these types of problems. The only way you can prepare for them is by having a savings or additional stream of income beyond your standard 9-5.It’s also financially responsible to not have all your eggs in one basket when it comes to income. People lose their jobs, become unable to work, have to move and take pay cuts… if you have a side hustle as a separate income source, you can soften those blows from the punches of life.

  4. Do Something You’re Passionate AboutMost people aren’t passionate about their full time job. It’s just a fact, and it’s OK. I love my full time job, as I stated above; however, I am also passionate about health and fitness… and my 9-5 has legitimately ZERO to do with that. I was able to turn my passion for health and fitness into a side hustle. I’d be working out and eating healthy anyways, but now I make extra income doing it.Are you already doing something you love as a “hobby” on the side? Maybe it’s cooking, knitting, dancing, make-up… etc etc etc. Figure out what you love and get yourself a side hustle! It won’t feel like work, and you’ll be making extra money while doing it!

  5. TAX WRITE-OFFSOK, this one might be my favorite. If you have a side hustle, you can write-off A TON of things if you’re using them for your business. Like what? Your cellphone, your home internet, home office equipment (like a new laptop or office supplies), travel and meals (I go on a few big trips with my team every year-these are all tax write-offs for me)… uh, yes please. As a Beachbody coach, I am able to write-off my Beachbody workout programs, and any Beachbody apparel I use to promote my business.Don’t get crazy with the write-offs, and keep all receipts… but there are definitely some areas that you can save money on every year!

How to Create Your Vision Board

vision-board-2

One of the most important steps to success is having a vision of what you are working towards. A vision board is a visual representation of your BIG, SCARY goals and aspirations. It should showcase images that will push you forward, and keep you on track.

I went months without creating a vision board for myself because I didn’t know where to start. I googled, read blogs, listened to podcasts… I did everything trying to figure out how to make the PERFECT vision board. Of course, all this did was stall my progress. So finally, I sat down, did a brain dump, printed out some pictures and pinned them up. Is it perfect? No. Are the pictures the prettiest ones out there? No. BUT it gets me off my butt every morning, and pushes me to work hard every night. Remember, progress, not perfection.

So how do you make a vision board? It’s pretty simple! Just follow the steps below:

1. Get a pen and paper and spend 10 minutes doing a BRAIN DUMP of all of your big, scary goals, dreams and aspirations. This can be ANYTHING from a dream Christian Louboutin closet, to a winter vacation cabin in the mountains, to a weekly $$$ goal, to a goal weight! Here are some areas/goals to think about:

  • Family
  • Home
  • Travel
  • Income
  • Fitness/health
  • Work/business
  • Hobbies

2. Now that you have some concrete goals, get on google and find images that match up with them! For instance, one of my goals is to become a 5-star Diamond Coach in my business, so I found an image of five diamonds to depict that goal. If you can’t find a good image, open a Word document and type out your goal and add a fun font and color. One thing I typed out was “Pay Off Mortgage”! I made it bold and pink to make it more ME.

3. Print and cut out all of your images or text, and adhere them to a board that you WILL hang in a place in your home you view daily. I hung mine in my home office/gym because it’s the first room I go into every morning! What a FANTASTIC way to wake up! Below are links to the board and pins I used to make my vision board:

4. Add other important items to your board that you’ll see daily. I personally have my first half marathon medal, a weekly weight tracker where I can record my progress, my current workout program calendar and my business goals worksheet. These are extras that are important to me, and that I want visibility to DAILY. Putting them in a binder, or keeping them as a copy on my computer doesn’t make it REAL enough for me. Here are the links to the blank worksheets I mentioned above. Feel free to make your own, or find ones that are more tailored to you. Pinterest is amazing for this!

5. Hang your board up and SLAY!!! Wake up. Kick ass. REPEAT.

I want to see pictures of your boards. Post below in the comments or email me at onefitbunny@gmail.com!
